    Thank you both!
I am using rolling X strokes and almost no pressure on the blade. I shall keep going and follow your advice.

Love the look of the Eiko. IMHO, there's no such thing as 'paying too much'. If you want it, then you spend what you believe it's worth to you. That may indeed be more than others are willing to pay - it's called an auction!

Do you have a favourite at the moment? Are you going to keep collecting any brands/sizes/grinds in particular?

I did buy that Eiko on looks alone as I could't find any information about it online.
I even made an offer to the seller and he agreed to it, but I might have a bit of buyer's remorse.

I do not have a favorite at the moment. I'm still learning how to hone and strop. I am saving the nice ones for later when at least I had mastered the 8K.
I do not see myself as a collector. My razors are tools that need to perform good. I do like diversity though. Right now I want to see which size/grind/steel/edge is best for me.
As for brands...I'd rather have a good razor from an obscure maker than a good razor from a famous one that costs a lot more. One could argue that the higher cost comes with better quality.

The scales of the Puma smell like old photographic film. Should I start worrying about cell rot or is that the normal smell?

Worry, yes and celluloid does smell usually when you rub it. Remove the scales?
    Not yet.

The scales are faux ivory celluloid but may not have kicked off. What exactly kicks off celluloid, no one fully understands. We know that a combination of heat, sunlight, moisture and lack of air circulation are contributors, so I would keep it dry and, in a climate, controlled environment. I would polish the blade and keep the razor segregated from you other razors just in case.

Keep an eye on it, and if it develops a fine red rust the Cell Rot has started, and the scales must be removed immediately, (save the badging) and the rust removed from the blade to save it. It will usually start at or near the edge, where the metal is thinnest or at the pivot, where moisture generally accumulates.

I have an old Faux tortoise scaled Craftsman, that is notorious for Cell rot and had a very fine dusting of rust on it when I bought it, years ago. I cleaned it and keep it separate in an open display, but it has not kicked off. even though I though for sure it would. It is a nice shaver by the way.

    BelOMO loupe arrived today!
I took a look at an edge, but I couldn't see much - just some stria.
I shall have another look tomorrow in daylight.
Can you take pictures through the loupe?
