Default 8/8 Wade & Butcher The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor

Snagged this for a good price the other day, it shipped really quickly. There's definitely some patina and a bit of pitting, but the marks on the blade are mostly stains. The only active rust is around the pivot pin. I've never depinned (or repinned) a razor before, and I'm not sure this one should be my first.... We'll see. If it's anything like my other razors, it will sit in a drawer waiting for my good intentions to turn into actions, and then after a year I'll send it to someone who actually knows what they're doing. Which is fine too.

You picked up a winner there. A very nice find. If you do put it in a drawer for the next year or two, I'd go as far as to unpin the pivot and scrape the rust off. It would keep it from getting worse. But if your drawer is dry and cool you might be ok waiting. Its a nice piece and would be a beauty fixed up.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Those are my favorites, the hollow is just right and they take such a smooth edge. Happy Shaving!

    Thanks guys!

Strange thing. I measured it again this morning in good light (instead of late last night under lamplight), and it turns out it’s a hair over 15/16.

I think my vision suffers when I’m tired!

I wouldn’t do much with it. It looks great as is. Hone it and use it.

Certainly it's in user-grade condition, and those tend to be fantastic shavers. There are guys on this forum who could turn it into an all-original show-piece if you decide to go that route.

Nice find Joel! I think you will feel more satisfaction if you honed it yourself no? if you like, I could gladly help you put a nice edge on it, gratis!

I had restored a similar one 4 years ago. I prefer a light restoration on these.
