I gave the BiaStroke safety razor a try yesterday. After a WTG pass with a straight razor to clear the week+ of growth, I used the safety razor for my customary ATG second pass, loaded with my favorite SuperMax super platinum blade which had been through a couple shaves already. I find these blades to be more on the comfortable side of sharp.
Overall it did an okay job. The style of the razor having very little gap felt similar to a Gillette Old Type, very mild. It took quite a bit of pressure and multiple strokes to get a nice close shave. Although even with all that abuse it still did not leave me with uncomfortable razor burn, so that's a benefit of its mild nature. I cannot say whether the slant design came into play as much as it was supposed to, as it was unnatural trying to find the correct angle of the teeth to produce the slice vs chop.
I'll probably stick with my Gillette safeties that are more aggressive and have a nicer finish.
