Default Old Duck and a Natural

Found these for a song at an antique mall in Tacoma, didn't realize it was a Bresnick until I got home.

The coti is a fun little natural combo measures just over 1x3.5". It will be interesting to see what's under the layer of oil.

Nice. Look how crisp the edges are still.

You did well looking at the condition of those two. That DD Dwarf should be a fine shaver.

Nice find.! A natural combo, and a DD that isn't rusted to hell. Both still on my list.....

That coti still has a lot of life left in it. A cleanup and some lapping and you’re good to go.

It looks like it was well used, probably for sharpening knives - I’m guessing from the oil residue on it. If it had been used for razors, I think you’d likely only find lather remains. It’ll be interesting to see a photo once you get it cleaned up. The dimensions make it a great hone for touch ups especially for smiling blades..

Just got my first DD a little bit ago, can't wait to get it shaving!

Seeing what's under a buncha gunk on an old coti is like a kinder egg, I probably get more excited about it than a grown man should....

The BBW side of the combo stone is also a workhorse hone. If you check around SRP, you will find a reference to some experimentation in Belgium in which experienced shavers could not tell the difference between edges finished on the coti side or the BBW side. The BBW side seems less dependent on which vein the stone came from than does the coti side, so more predictable.

I didn't notice the "Dwarf" on that Dubl Duck. Until Bob mentioned it. Is that a shorty? It didn't really look it in the picture. Maybe that's an assumption from the name but usually the word dwarf refers to something small.
Always liked the Ducks. That's a really nice shaving razor and ungodly hollow

Next to a more regular sized CMon Wedge. The Dwarf is about 2.5" long and just a hair above 11/16th width.
The grind is some of the thinnest hollow I've seen. Easily bend the edge with a finger nail

So a little short and kind of wide. I could see using a dwarf name for something like that I guess.
