    Default HUGE UNMARKED CHOPPER - 1 3/8+

I found this lovely gem on Ebay. Figuring its grandeous size and low bid count I figured that I'd snatch it up easily. Dispite the crack on the heel waaaaaay above the shaving edge this straight razor has a ton of personality and added features. I just won it yesterday so I'm waiting for it to show. Here's the text from the ebay listing. Thanks for looking.

Vintage Restored HUGE UNMARKED CHOPPER - 1 3/8+ - Straight Razor - Shave Ready

I recently acquired this blade and no nothing of its origin, etc. I am inlcuding a few before pics so you can see what it looked like originally. It does have a crack at the heal of the blade about half way up the blade. not near the cutting edge. No markings other than some writing on the blade which I did not touch. I did only a light cleaning and honing of this blade. Its massive and heavy! And it shaved surprisingly well. Interesting piece of folk art.

Blade width measures at 1 7/16ths, or 11/8ths+
Razor length is 6 3/8ths inches.
Blade grind is approximately a 1/2 hollow.
Jimps on bottom and top of shank.

Scales are also original vintage hand made wood. they were originally pinned withnails. I disassembled and restored these by sanding and giving them a couple of lights coats of CA glue to seal the wood. Pins are brass. Pins are semi-tight brass and blade closes on center. i did not go too tight with the pins for fear of splitting the old wood.

Very nice shaver and a nice piece of folk art....

Looks as though it was made from an old file.
