A gift from my family doctor

About a month ago my doctor calls and tells me he has a razor for me. He remembered me talking about collecting straights and it jogged his memory so he went home, searched around and found a razor with a box he wanted me to have. He asked me to remind him when I was there next

Fast forward to today when my wife had an appointment with him. I'm at work and she texted me some pictures. Not that there was anything wrong with hers but these are pictures I took when she got home with it.

He said he bought it brand new when he was in Germany years and years ago (although he didn't say how many) with the full intention of using it but then never did. He was thrilled for me to have and use it which makes 2 of us.

So, today as a gift I received a brand new, never used, in the box Col. Ichabod Conk which appears to be a Dovo.

Turned out to be a good day!

Absolutely! I could hardly wait to get home to play with it. Look to see it in an SOTD. I told Susie she'll have to get a picture of me shaving with it and send it to him.

One of the first Col Conk’s I’d imagine. Nice Dr you got there!
Had a few conk soaps during my early days. Good price point for their soaps..

Now, that is a wonderful gift. You know, back in the day DOVO actually put one piece MOP scales on their razors. They were thicker than the faux pearl scales they use today and like real pearls felt kind of rough when you rubbed them against your teeth. They also showed iridescent colours in the right light which the fake ones don't. Might be worth checking out.
