    Default Home town antique store.

Taking a drive out to an ol' friends house yesterday, took me thru the little town I grew up in. As I passed thru the light at the square, ( only light in town )I caught the glimpse of the red white n blue flag, that indicates a antique shop.

Hmmmm..!! That's a first for this town. I shall stop n see.

    Only found two straights.
A 13/16 Wosty, IXL wedge. Scales in need of some lovin, but the blade is almost prestine, with even hone wear.

The other happened to be an older, 6/8 Wade & Butcher, smiling wedge ( early- mid 1800s) with rosette collars. Nice to finally find one of these.

Scales in need of dire repair, but collars still look salvageable.

Yeah, can't wait to gettin in rotation.

The W&B is gonna need some blade work, someone took the ol grinder to the blade faces. It's not too horrible, but thank god its a wedge. I wanted to even out the spine wear anyhoo, so no biggie.

Lucky man. I suppose those will be restored and in rotation in no time flat, and looking as good as the day they were made. You are going to need another case soon.

    Too late for that, Shaun.

I've pulled some of the less popular razors from the drawers, so the more desired have a place for rest, out of the elements.

Not sure how I could decide which of mine are less desirable.

It doesn't matter whether I was generously given them to shave with or kindly sent some to practice honing on, if I bought cheap beaters or spent a bit on what I feel are special razors.

I am madly in love with every single one, even my GD.

If I ever run out of room in the drawers of my jewellery box, I'll bin some clothes to free up more razor space

Keep gathering razors, bud. Once you find your favorite type n grind, the others don't matter.....as much.

I like all mine, too.! But I like some, better than others.

For me...it's wedges. But even in that class, I love the smiling wedges most of all. And even more, the older it is.

I've seen numerous pics of that W&B in other post's over the years, and have been on the lookout for one, to add to my W&B collection. As well, I found another, for my growing Wosty collection.

Nice Mike. I too was at the antique store yesterday and scored an old W&B wedge. I'll have to post a pic of that.

My problem is I have a hard time parting with them. I have bought more razors to restore and sell and then can't part with it, at least to sell. I can give them away just fine. Finally at somewhere around 200 I am starting to put some together for sale again without the country song playing and the tear in my beer.

I hope I'm not hijacking. I hate it when people do that. Here's that wedge that I picked up at the antique shop.

It's not a prize like the ones you got Mike, but for a dollar, I figured it was worth it if for nothing else except the collars. There are three of the four left.

Besides, I've been meaning to bone up more on my regrinding skills and since I have really nothing invested in this beyond what I would have paid for the collars, less actually, I figured it was a good candidate.

Plus I could always consider it an exercise in repairing horn.
