Thanked: 154Two JC2C (Jean Charles Claudel) razors, as per request
Hi gents,
as per requested in another post by @Tathra11 here are my 2 French custom from the same maker
Both were made by Jean Charles Claudel, who AFAIK is not smithing anymore.
In the back is a model from the signature Aq'va series, complete with its sharp French point. Steel is SC145, a highly technical steel created by Achim Wirtz. I am told it's meant to be close to a yasuki steel (industrial tamahagane). The frame of the razor has been kept fresh from the quenching, giving it this rough aspect. For me it's more of a collector item, since my skin hates steels that hard. Half hollow.
The second one is custom made from drawings, materials and specifications provided by yours truly. Damas (made by JC), camel bone, jewelry grade MOP, 13/16, quarter hollow (well, a wedge that is), "dreadnought" point. Initially quite good, it's become an absolute marvel once I gave it a DGS (15k) touch up.
It is my absolute favorite razor in the sense it was a "carte blanche" gift from my wife, and was first used the day of our wedding.Last edited by Aggelos; 03-21-2023 at 02:44 PM.
Beautiful is important, but when all is said and done, you will always be faithful to a good shaver while a bad one may detter you from ever trying again. Judge with your skin, not your eyes.
