Those are some good finds, all right. I've found many similar deals at antique shops. It's so great to uncover an amazing razor for next to nothing because the seller knows very little about them.

A memory just came to me. One I haven't thought of for two years or so, since I was in the shop. I got a little greedy that day. After finding numerous razors for next to nothing at this particular location, I came across a white-scaled razor with a blue emblem (I forget what it was, exactly) near the bottom. The razor was a 5/8 or 6/8 spike point, and I believe it had "Solingen" etched in blue or gold (or both) along the front of the blade. Very nice condition. He wanted $25 bucks, plus tax. I asked if he'd go down to $20, taxes in, and he wouldn't do it. Heh. Silly squabbling on my part when I should have just grabbed it. At the time, I was getting similar quality razors at that place from other vendors for around ten bucks and under, though, so I thought his price was a little steep, if you can believe it. We got to talking and I casually mentioned that I preferred the Sheffield steel in many of my English razors most of my other blades. He then said that Solingen steel was definitively better than Sheffield's, which was kind of annoying. I mean, both areas produce excellent razors. I told him it was more or less a Coke/Pepsi kind of thing, and he was like, "Whateverrrr."

I'll have to hit that store up for some new razors shortly. I was there a few days ago, but they didn't have any. Although one guy had a couple of awesome WWI bayonets! Maybe I'll try putting an edge on one of those suckers and shaving with it. An 18", 8/8 blade. Nice.
