    Default Japanese Wet Stone

Here is what I received from So today. Beautiful.
It's a Maruichi Nakayama. Go ahead it's OK to be jalous.

Could you write about your experiences with this stone, and how it works for you?
Otherwise this thread should go to the 'show and tell' forum.

I won't be jealous: I bought one from So last year! I no longer shave with any razor that hasn't had 50 laps on the Nakayama as a final polishing. It really does make a difference after an Escher or coticule.

The really nice thing about a Nakayame is that you can actually feel when the razor is ready.

Bruno: they're great. I would rather part with my Escher than with my Nakayama. After you finished honing and before you strop yout take the razor to the Nakayama. Intially it is like there is some friction between razor and Nakayama. After about 50 laps you suddenly notice the friction is gone. Do whatever hair test you usually do and you'll find the hairs are cut with more ease.

It is said you need to be an experienced honer to use Japanes hones properly. I think that is a load of rubbish. Do your X-pattern or whatever you're comfortable with and you're fine.

Go ahead Bruno, move it to the "show & tell", the razor is not here yet.

I just moved this thread to show and tell.
As soon as you have the razor and used the hone, just let me know and I'll move it to the review section.

I don't know the price but So has a good reputation, or Old_School may be able to get you one
