Default Fritz Bracht Tortoise 7 day set

I was browsing at an antique store yesterday and saw them on the shelf. No box, with what appeared to be real tortoise scales. There were only 6, one missing. Sadly, all the blades were badly rusted and chipped beyond saving. What a shame. I just had to share that.

I don't know how to re-pin scales, so would there be any value in getting the scales? How much would be a fair price (in fair shape), considering the cost of sending it out to be pinned? How to tell if they are real tortoise?

i suspect it's immitation. you can tell buy doing hot-pin test. if it melts it's plastic, if it smells like horn it's horn, if it smells a bit different than horn it's most likely tortise.
if they have inlay i'd say 99.99% you can skip the test as it'll be plastic.

as far as what are the scales worth? only you can say what they are worth to you. if you have naked blades that you want to dress with these, that may be worth something.
