Japanese Straight
This arrived in today's mail...
Note the barber pole:
Does anyone have a clue as to who the maker might be? Date of manufacture?
The seller on eBay advertised that it is believed to be dated around 1940.
There is no rust, it is in great shape. I need to learn to take better close ups.Last edited by gatorfan; 07-17-2008 at 04:12 AM.

My guess is with the barber pole it was made for a barbers use or a specific barber shop. Hows that for obvious logic?

Just judging from the twine, I don't think it is original to that razor. The knot is not asian, and I dont think they would wind the twine is such a hap hazzard manner. Twine that is almost 70 years old would show signs of age. Loose the twine and you have a fine razor.

I believe the barber pole would date it at around 1945 or later!
Could be wrong though!
And I agree about the twine!

Sorry, I should have included additional pics. The twine was the first thing to go and it was rather icky.
I've been in Las Vegas with no computer (just my Blackberry). Today I have an appointment for a shave at Truefitt and Hill at Caeser's Palace. I'll post a review with some pics when I get home.
