Thanked: 105Antique store find
Found this travel mug mirror combo and this hone, strop and razor case combo in a small shop.
got home and finally got the box open to find what was rattling around. A nice Marx&Co, razor.
The brush is shot but a little cleaning on the rest and some new paint it would make for a good travel mug.
The razor box combo I will leave as is and at some point try to reproduce it possibly.
The leather is still in good shape and the hone is a fine gray hard stone?
Enjoy
thanks
Tim

Thanked: 0Heya Oldblades,
I just scored a similar strop/stone/storage box and was wondering if you've replaced the strop yet, and how you went about it. From what I can see of mine, it's glued at one end of the leather, and tacked at the other. Any tips for its removal, sources for replacement leather (I'm assuming Tony) and re-attachment would be much appreciated.

Wow Tim and Sweeney; these things are coming out of the woodwork. I bought mine on Ebay last year.
I think the gray stone on mine is a Thuringian. It's silky smooth and has the look and feel of a Thuringian rather than a slate.
I bought mine with the same idea, replicating it. Given it would probably be impossible to find a quality natural stone in the same dimensions let alone enough of them to make and sell, I thought maybe a Spyderco UF? I don't own one, but aren't they thin and fairly narrow?
The backside of the leather on mine has the Russian diamond grid pattern. Does yours?
