    Default Antique store haul this weekend

    Went up north to a family wedding at Ruttgers lodge this weekend and on Sunday drove up to Crosby Minnesota to go poking around antique stores.
    Here is what I found.

    * a 1940 something Gillette
    * an Erik Antonberg Swedish Straight
    * a Wade and Butcher with wood scales

    The Gillette looks like it has never been used.
    I am excited about restoring the wood on the W&B but need some advice on best practices if anyone is so inclined.

    Thanks,

    Sean

    Nice, Sean. I combed through every one of the antique stores in Crosby about six months ago. I either missed those or they're new.

    The wood scales look like they're in good condition. The pivot pin doesn't look original so my guess is that the scales probably aren't either. Whoever made the scales did a great job.

    I use that furniture liquid wax that's often seen for sale by the bottle in antique stores. Harvey's I think it's called? It works very well. Heck, even pledge sprayed on and rubbed in and hand buffed would work well for you.

    Yesterday was not a good day to be up at Rutgers!

    Yeah, yesterday was duck weather for sure but a good day for Crosby. Saturday was awesome at Ruttgers. Thanks for the tip on the scales Chris.

    That EAB looks like she'll clean up real nice if the pitting isn't too deep. A very nice looking razor.

    Cool... I have one just like it, except it's not golden. It is far to rough for my baby-like sensitive skin. Last time I used it, the alum block almost made me cry! I know... it's the blade but who cares right? I'm a staight razor shaver full-time!
