    Default Wostenholm Double Carbonized

After looking around for this 7/8 frameback for a good 6 months, I finally snagged one on ebay last week. I worked on it this afternoon.

I was planning to just polish it with some maas and keep some of the patina intact, but there was a stain on the back of the blade that required some light sanding. Still a little pitting left. I just tried to do as little as possible.

It is waiting for a test shave in the morning.

    Here is the ebay photo:

So you grabbed that one. I'd won one earlier, sold it, and kinda wanted another. I bid, but you clearly bid higher. Nice grab, they are stunning razors.

I remember yours. I missed it when you sold it here.

I tried a Swedish version of the same styled blade.

I found that style of blade to take a very sharp edge. Very smooth in use but also quite unforgiving because of the rigid back which also provides the weight to the blade.

If you like the style and it suits you, the Swedish blades tend to be more resistant to oxidation and seem to stand the test of time a bit better than the English blades.

Still, it's a nice looking razor. Just go steady, it will sharpen up like a Feather edge.

The test shave this morning was very nice. Sharp and stiff, but smooth and a softer edge than the Swedish framebacks.

I have a 6/8 Engstrom which is also very nice, but less forgiving, as you said. Must be the harder Swedish steel.
