Looks good man. I think it's pretty neat that you have been using your grandfathers hone. I wish I had inherited some shaving supplies.

Looks like you're off to a great start (though a strop seems to be missing). Nice presentation as well.

Nice to see your stuff and to see that expencive stuff is not required to shave with a straight.
And yes, a strop is missing unless you strop on the bottom of your feet.
Now there's a thought. I've seen barbers strop on the palm of their hand and heard of people stropping on their fore arm.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)

I was going to mention that the pic would have been complete with a newspaper but my humopr got the best of me and I forgot to mentione it. Again. nice setup and no rush on the strop. Wait until it is in the budget. This is a great example for newbies and all others. I'm sure many of our perdicessors didn't use much more on a daily basis and may have got by with less. We don't need to spend a lot of money on stuff to enjoy a str8 shave as you have shown. Thanks for the post.

Stropping on newspaper is a fine solution. The slight abraisiveness of the paper might enen help keep the edge sharp as well as realinging it.

Quality gear. I have a Lakeside razor to go with that hone. Can I have it ?
