Thanked: 735Johnson Western Works Sheffield
Ebay score.
This razor had some light surface pitting on the front side, I didn't work too hard yet on making it perfect. Still not a mirror finish. The backside however was pretty close to perfect. And the scales appear to be actual tortoise shell.
The blade is awesome. It is pretty much a wedgey grind, but it tapers down to be actually quite thin at the cutting edge, and you can see it flex when honing it. Speaking of honing it, this razor appearrs to have never been honed before! Sweetness!
Gave it a shave Staurday evening, and it didn't dissapoint. Nice smile, rounded toe, very forgiving. Smooth Sheffield steel feel, and it took a very keeen edge.
One thing about older Sheffield razors is that the jimping really is super serrated and gives an excellent grip. That, coupled with the swooping thumbnotch and side top jimps really make it secure in the hand.
This one is a keeper!

That is a beauty, I love the way the jimps come round the top on it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
