Default Last week on the Bay

My first Ebay purchase. Looked at a bunch, got priced out on most, backed off some others.

Wanting to clean this one up and then use as a shaver. I think I did pretty well at $8.00

Hard to tell from my crappy photo but it's a Halberd , back says F.A. Clauberg New York Made in Germany

Heard so many good things about the German blades, one of the reasons I pulled the trigger.

Came with the box too although the box saw it's better days many moons ago.

Telling from the picture it looks like you did well.
It's great felling shining up a old razor and l8er using it for shaving :-)

    Good luck

I'm quite sure you did great. Just type in ""F.A. Clauberg" " New York" in Google, and you'll be surprised at the prices and the stunning pictures you can find - including those of this Halberd at Maximilian's.

And for those who want one too, here's a similar one for a BiN of $18,-.

Thanks. The trouble with those 'buy it now' types is the blurry photo and the lack of a comprehensive description. A roll of the dice. Then again you can always ask questions.

If I can get mine to look half as nice as Maximilian's I'll be ecstatic considering this is my first clean up/restore. The scales are very tight and clean. It's really only the blade that needs some work. It's definitely been honed before but it appears to be a blade that had been resting in a decent environment for quite some time.

Nice catch! The scales look like bone and should gleam when cleaned up and polished. Same for the blade, which looks great. Clauberg's are good shavers, at least in my experience.
