    I agree with Ron. The extra coarse DMT is to honing stone and barber hone surfaces like a wood chipper is to twigs. It hogs more stone surface than any other lapping plate hands down. I bought one some time ago because I can't seem to resist picking up barber hones when I find them even though personally I don't use them at this point. There's nothing wrong with a good/great barber hone (some barber hones, the porous coarser grit ones IMO have limited use) but for refreshing edges I go to chrome ox and for honing I go to a variety of stones/hones depending on need and mood.

    My BHAD, and a pair of white Spydercos, is the reason I bought a D8XX. Worth the tariff if you do a lot of lapping.
