+1 on Glen. A trip in the tumbler may be just the trick on that one.

I hope you didn't take my above as discouragement. That's going to be a great blade, no doubt.

Like the Full Throttle avatar too, BTW.

the hone wear doesn't look bad at all to me.
the lighting is bad, but it doesn't seem to have any pitting and such, try some metal polish and see where you get with it. it may shine right up.

these old bokers are also quite hefty, at least judging from the ones I've had and have.

the scales are horn, if i were you i'd see if i can save them, i like horn a lot better than wood and plastic.

nice bokers seem to be expensive even on ebay, i've paid more for most of mine, but they may have been in a better condition as well.

I like the look of the redwood, but I think the simple blond or black might go better with the 19th Century look of the blade. No rush to decide on any of this.

Who is Glen and how do I contact him?

I will make a conservative attempt to clean and polish and maybe send it off if it looks like I may not be equipped for a proper treatment.

They might be horn. Looking at the places they are chipped there seems to be an internal structure, not homogeneous like man-made would be.

Scales are not worth salvage, I don't think. They are in worse shape than my picture shows. (The eBay seller was completely honest about it with some closeups revealing the damage.)

Being a Boker was one reason I was willing to pay a little more for my very first straight razor purchase from eBay. I think it was Vintage Blades who once upon a time had a link to this: Böker - Your Knife Made In Solingen. Knowing the Boker history makes it a little more interesting to have a Boker razor.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
