Today from Turkey
I got 2 in the mail today. First up is my new Dorko. I bought this off of Ebay. I got to it before the Dorkophiles. Fortunately it was on a "buy it now" and they didn't get a chance to bid up the price which was quite reasonable.
It is better looking in person. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a 6/8 and with minimal hone wear and in pretty good condition. No nicks.

Next up is an Elosef from Bulgaria. It turned out to be 7/8 with nice engraving. Top and bottom jimps on the tang. I don't know what kind of wood the scales are.
The biggest surprise is that these scales turned out to be one piece. They are a little rough. So I wonder if these are not original or if they were manufactured under communism.
Still an interesting razor.

Nice blades. I especially like the hump on the Elsoef's tang.

I was browsing ebay and saw that Elosof and almost bought it. I think the pictures showed the single piece scales.
No idea whether they're original though. If ever you get bored of it please let me know and I'll probably find something to trade you

This guy from Turkey has some nice blades. All have a buy it now option, but also a make an offer option.I have seen two occasions where he accepted a lesser offer as long as it's reasonable.I lost out on a Filarmonica because he accepted a lesser offer before I could use the buy it now. Then I bought a Filly by offering $15 less than his BIN.
How long did it take to get your razors?

I got them both honed up and shaved with them last night.
While honing I noticed the Dorko had a thinner, more flexible blade. It had a very slight frown which I honed out.
I did shave with both. The Elosef performed pretty well on the right side of my face.Because it is a larger blade (7/8) I was surprized by how well it handled. That was partly due to the top and bottom jimps.
The Dorko had a strangely narrow bevel, but it seened sharp. I went ahead and shaved with it. The shave went well. It could have been stropped some more. But a good shave.

This was directly from the coticule. I would like not to use chrome oxide for a change. Maybe back to the coticule or some time on the Chinese 12K.
I have to think the Elosef was an original handle. The finish was pretty poor with the pins sticking out pretty far and a glop of whatever they used for finish on on the handles. I would guess that someone putting a new handle would do a better job for themselves than maybe someone working under communism.
At least the steel is good.
