    Default Antique Shop Surprise!!

While on my way home from the office,I decided to stop at one of my haunts. An antique shop around the corner from work.Something told me to stop and browse.Well!!,lucky I did because did I strike gold.A Str8 shavers grab bag.A nice shaving Mug(I think? It looks good to me!).Made in Germany by D&B? A Gillette NEW in decent cond.I think she will clean up fine.A 9/16 Genco Model B4 w/ shortened blade.A Omega Brush ,made in Italy. And last but the best.A Wade & Butcher FOR BARBERS USE 8/8 Spike Full Hollow.Has a small, less than 1/8" chip in to middle of the blade,so a honing I will go.The scales look original black horn w/birdeye pins. The razor was in the box in a display cabinet,so I was not sure what it was until the lady opened it and handded me the razor box.I felt the shear weight and thought to myself,"Meatchopper!! Please be a keeper!" And BAMM a keeper. So when the voice in your head tells you something,LISTEN!!!!

I can only imagine how pleased you are with your loot! Of course the W&B is the jewel in the crown of your haul, but that mug looks very 1800's and hand painted. It might be valuable. Congratulations, and it would be great to see, in a few weeks of course, how your chopper looks without the chip and all spiffed up! It will be awesome, without a doubt!

Nice grabs, Al. I was out antiquing today as well, and I snagged a nice pair too. A lucky day for the both of us, though I think you got the better haul.

Ah, I couldn't tell from the first pictures. I actually think it's an interesting look, and, since you don't have the barber's notch it should make opening the blade easier too. I'm looking forward no see what you do with her, especially around the heal.

PS She's cleaned up nice so far.
