Talking My two 7/8s are here!!!

Thomas Fretwell, Sheffield 7/8 Fine India Steel and a pleasent surprise is that it is a wedge. Massive chopper that. I love the signature marking in the diamond.

B.J. Eyer Half Hollow Challenge Barbers Use Circa 1867.

Both scales are shot which is unfortunate because the pin work on the Eyer is beautiful. The scales on the Fretwell look like a dog chewed them.

The Fretwell has some nice floral pattern on the face of the wedge which of course has one black spot in the middle of the blade. I was thinking of getting some Turtle wax rubbing compound in the red tin to see if I can work some of the heavier crap off with out paper.

The Eyer has some pitting and patina. But not enough that it can't be dealt with. The edges of both are in need of repair, both have small chips out of the edge of blades, those should hone right out.

All in all I am excited to have lucked into a 7/8 wedge. So now I have two a Bengall 5/8 and this one. Should make for some interesting honing. I really want the Barbers Use up and running soon.
