Sunday Flea Market Find
Found this Wade & Butcher 'For Barber's Use' today at the local Sunday flea market! Pardon the pictures, they came from my BlackBerry and are horrible. I am currently cleaning it up a bit, and will take better pics later. Came in it's original coffin, only two tiny spots of rust and the scales are in decent condition as well. Measures in at 9/8. Feel free to comment on the pink measuring tape, I can handle it. First four pics are of the new addition. She looks much better in person!

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Great find!! I love seeing everyone's finds at flea markets, estate sales and antique shops. Bet you only paid a fraction of the price it would go for on EBay! Would love to see this blade again when you finish working on it. Enjoy and take pride in your score!

Thanks!
I've done some minimal sanding and polished it up a bit. Its starting to shine up nicely. I know very little about honing, but after 3 or 4 passes on the stone, got the best shave I've had in my life. I'm already in love with this one.
As for the flea markets and antique shops go, that is where I have found all of my razors and have not paid more than $40 for any of them. I feel as if I've stolen this one today. The man that sold it told me that if I like the w&b that I should visit his shop. He thinks I would be rather happy with what I will find. So, needless to say I'll be visiting him soon.

A very shrewd seller! The first one is always free, remember? Then, you're hooked! All kidding aside, I can hardly believe a couple of passes on a hone and it was shave ready. Sounds like it was VERY well maintained by it's former owner. I have encountered very few razors like that over the years, sad to say. When they pop arm hair at the antique store, you know you're in business! How rare that is, though.
