Default Le Canadien From Rasage Poulin

I bought one of the new Le Canadien Thiers Issard razors from Scott at Rasage Poulin. The one I bought was this one:

It arrived in Japan very quickly and as recomended by Scott I tried out the razor as is becuase of recent changes in the shave-readiness of out of the box TI's. Bear in mind that I have only used it twice so I can't comment on how long its edge will last between touch ups, but the first shave was not as bad as I thought it would be but is was on the verge of being not shave ready. I could shave with it but it did not give a great shave.

I brought out the hones last night and started off at #3000. I soon realized that the hone wear from the factory was not even. It is like 3~4mm of the spine closest to the stablizers/shoulders had no wear and the rest of the spine has about 1mm all along the rest of the spine to the point. This made honing the heel a real treat. It was worse on one side but not impossible. Soon I had a nice clean bevel and I went up through my progression.

I stropped it and left it for the morning.

I woke up very excited because I was also taking a brand new Chubby 3 Best for its first trip to the soap dish. If I had to make a comparrison to the two shaves of this razor I would liken the first one to a scratchy 'razor' and the second to a silky smooth squeegee. The shave this morning was a nice as anything I have ever had.

A beautiful shave. This new carbonsong 135 steel is something else!

The Chubby 3 too was stellar. You can read more about that here if you like.

Nice to hear about the quality of the razors. I prefer the look of the blades without gold wash on them. Makes it easier to see the detail on the image.
