    Default Went antiqueing again...

    ...found another frameback.
This one is a 6/8 J.A. Hellberg/Heilberg??? It doesnt seem as well made as my Joseph Elliott Silversteel, but with some work it should be shaveable. Seems the only decent razors, in the antique stores, around here, are framebacks.
    Ponders....

lol, the only decent razors in the antique stores in my area are the imaginary ones.

Frame-backs are definitely on my list of things I'd like to try.

Hope it cleans up, and this thread is useless without pictures

Hard for me to say from the photo, but it looks very promising. I've heard several guys say that frame backs are especially easy to hone. The only question his how much sanding you want/need to do.

Somehow, being a bit rough and pitted just doesn't bother me on a frameback.

There is no rust or pitting at all...however, someone who was an idiot, tried to hone it. "Grumbles"
Okay, idiot is a strong word, but its a pretty razor, minus the scratches....which should be able to be sanded out. It seems that someone took a hone to it, that wasnt designed for razors.

Well, in the world of bad things that can happen to razors, being honed once by somebody without the skill and kit to do it right seems pretty low on the list. You should see how bad I messed up a couple of ebay trash blades "experimenting" lol

    Yeah, your right!
I guess it saddens me to see a razor, that survives from the 1920's, take it in the shorts by someone that is inexperienced.
With that said, ive got my SHREDDED, first strop, hanging in the bathroom still, to remind me what not to do. lol.

Very nice find. A frameback is next on my list of investments. Or maybe a frameback style by the mastro.....

Great find! Maybe you are just getting to the antique shops when all that is left are frame backs. Still a good find and it looks to be in decent shape. Don't give up the hunts. Maybe add some other shops in the hunt that are a little further away and off the beaten path.
