The One and only Filarmonica Dwarf
I bid on a Fillie shortly before the prices skyrocketed, and thought I got a pretty good buy,but when it arrived the blade had been clipped. Well, when life gives you lemons... So I set about making some scales to fit the blade and whipped up some out of quarter sawn oak. I give you the Filarmonica Dwarf.
Shave and balance seem to be good. A spike point would probably be tough to deal with in so short a blade, but the rounded toe works just right. As for the blade being clipped, well, I paid well under 100 bucks for it and it does do a good shave.

Nice save!! I've always wanted to try a short blade, and that one looks great. It might also prove as a nice travel razor as it's very compact.

Great job.It looks real good.Just curious, though. What length did you end up with for the blade? With the scales scaled down in size,it's almost hard to tell it's even been shortened.

"What length did you end up with?"
I have another fillie #14 that's just a shade over 3 inches to the end of the grind, this one is 2 1/2 inches.

I thought so too, so when my wife wanted to visit her sister in Knoxville this past weekend I tucked this razor into my ditty bag for a proper road test. Over the course of the weekend my brother-in-law asked me about straight razor shaving and allowed that he might like to give it a try. So I gave him this razor, my travel strop, a half used tube of Proraso, and directions to this place. We'll see if he gets bitten by the bug.
