A good surprise.
I won an auction of ~40 razors, give or take. The guy only had pics of 20 of them in the auction, but, I read the fine print and found out he was throwing in another 20 that had "problems".
Well...as I was unpackaging the box today, I immediately noticed the completely unexpected logo of a Mr. John Barber...... and then I was a happy dude ;D
(also pictured is a nice 8/8 Elliot that was in the lot)

Woah!! Nice.
If any of the other ones are like those 2 than it looks like you made out well. It would be nice to win a large lot of razors like that, it would surely keep me busy for a while. Enjoy!

I ended up dumping ~30 razors in big lots back up on the 'bay, and keeping about a dozen. there was a lot of junk. Still..ended up with 3 W&Bs, the elliot, the barber, a nice ~1830 or so "Bengall Cast Steel", 3-4 other 1850-1870 sheffield blades of various makers, and a couple torreys..for very cheap. after I e-bay the 3 lots I made with the 30 razors..it will be very VERY cheap

WOOOW! Congrats!
During the last 3 days I sold a Bengall Cast Steel (1830 ca.) and bought a new one (maybe older; #160 in my signature). I'm trying to understand the evolution of Bengall Cast Steel razors until 1840's. Any pic?

Heres the pic you wanted clavichord --
I ran it for 40 minutes on the 80 grit greaseless. nasty pitting from the rust..but..its cleaning up very nice. I'm going to leave a bit of the pitting, I think this blade deserves a bit of pitting

Thank you very much, Undream! Yes, she's like the one I sold recently, and like you I thought that she might be from 1830's. Mine too had that particular heel shape, so I guess that was the way this razor was made. Nice scales and washers!
