Got another Le Grelot....
...although this one seems slightly older
Sorry about the crappy pics, just received it, it says "363 5/8" and "LE GRELOT - P.HOSPITAL & Co - THIERS - FRANCE", and on the blade it has stamped: "Forge a la main - Double Evidé Sonnant -Acier Français"...
At the edge may be you can notice it has been used and probably not stropped in the best manner, hope is salvageable.....Any info would be appreciated
I'll try to take pics with a "proper" camera, not my crappy mobile...
Cheers
Carlos

Thanked: 74I think you know the pictures of your razor are a little bit blurry, so no comments for now on the razor.
What happened to your keyboard, the letters are in the wrong place and have funny symbols on them?

Is it possible to tell anything about the edge looking at those pics? I know it may be impossible, but I am slightly worried because you can see that "grey" band between the edge and the etching seems to be wear, is that fixable?
Thanks in advance and regards

Sorry to insist, I took some better pics today, just to try to show the state of the razor...
Thanks again

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will comment, but it looks not too bad to me. I could be wrong but I think in the right hands it would clean up nice.

The gray spots look like they could be minor pitting, but there seems to be such an abundance. As far as the gray line beneath the gold wash goes, you may wish to try this: Put elctrical tape over the gold wash(hopefully it is not ready to flake off) and then polish the line with any reputable metal polish. You may even sand it as long as the gold is protected.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Forgot to add the pics of the razor once back from Max. I looks great, perfect mixture of old patina but with a great polish:
And while I am at it, this is a Palmera he also brought back to life (pity is no longer a 8/8):
The sad part is that they will need to find a new home, as I have "sinned" (a lot) in the meantime and my "razor fund" is heavily in red!
