    Default Another rack

    Yep.

Recently i decided to do something maybe useful, so i made a razor rack for seven razors (well i don't have that many, but maybe some day i will).
I had some extra wood from making new panels for my sauna, so all it took was 2 evenings, little planning and work in my garage and here's the result. Not a masterpeace, but enough for me.
The wood is Common Alder (Alnus glutinosa), widely known for it's ability to withstand moisture. I also wiped the rack with tar to give it some colour. Tar is traditionally used to seal wooden boats. The last layer is a mixture of melted bees wax, tar and terebinth so moisture will be no problem for my rack.

    Nice work Sailor.

The natives must be getting to you, your rack has a very Scandinavian look to it.

This kind of thing is somewhat easy to make. All i did need was some left off wood, tar and bees wax were just something i found at the bottom of some old cans. Might as well use something else.
Had i wanted to hifi with this, i would not have used any electric tools. However as a lazy person i used router to make the slots for razors.
This became sort of prototype, and the result is far from perfect. If someone wanted to make these kind of things serial, then proper jigs would help to make the results far more better.

Very nice. It's the first wooden rack I've seen where the razors stand up instead of laying on their side.
