Thanked: 1First Ebay purchase: Set from Asprey of London
Link to auction
I may have over paid a bit for something that needs cleaning up but I just could not resist. I justified (rationalized?) it because I had not purchased any razor for several years. I hope I'll be able make them daily shavers.Last edited by gsi; 11-16-2009 at 06:06 PM.

I've never heard of Asprey's, but looking at the tang stamps, being from Sheffield I'd venture to say they are very good shavers and you shouldn't have any trouble getting them in GREAT condition to use. Very nice cath!

Thanked: 199+1 Looks like a nice set, and shouldn't take TOO much work to get them cleaned up and sharp.
Nice find and welcome to the forums!

Thanked: 1Thanks guys.
Can't wait to get them. I'm curious to see what the scales are made of, I've always liked the look of vintage plain off-white scales.

Thanked: 137Very nice! I'd stake a small amount on those scales being ivory - they look the right thickness and colour, and I'm pretty sure I could see some faint grain lines in one of the photos. They look almost identical to the ivory scales I have on my Heljestrand frameback, only slightly yellower, probably from dirt.

Thanked: 1Great, I was hoping it may be ivory. Given what 7om said about Aspery, I think there may be a chance.

Ivory for sure. If they are, a red hot pin test INSIDE one of the scales will leave no mark and emit a smell of burned tooth, similar to a dentist office odor while drilling. Your teeth are ivory! Beautiful examples of the best in old Sheffield razors. I am sure they will hone up as nice shavers. Congrartulations!
