thomas turner is a sheffield maker, i had one that had the same lines, except that it was a wedge. it was made for sale at the army&navy cooperarive, so it looks like they were quite happy to brand them for various markets.

Sorry to drag up an old thread. I've recently restored a similar Thomas Turner razor with the M&D Canada 1916 stamp. Anyone have any history on these? Militia & Defense Canada WWI razors? I've read on some knife forums of similarly marked pocket knives were issued to Soldiers of the great war. Pretty cool stuff. Just have to honed it up and give it a go!

That is a very cool razor. As a Canadian I'm glad to see some Canuck steel on the forum. If you ever want to resell it I would definitely be interested

Very interesting, though in those days, Canada = Great Britain...

Those are both awesome razors, they really appeal to me as a Canadian living in England. I'm interested in the little mesters of Sheffield so these tick all the boxes, especially as both are dated during the first world war. You don't get much more Canadian than a beaver eh! Unless it was sporting a toque and a stubby...

Last I heard, Canada's 1st Prime Minister was already dead for more than 20 years when the 1st world war stared.
