    Default First SR ever

Here are two pics of my newly acquired James Barlow and Sons of Sheffield straight razor. I found it at an antique store for around $20. As you can see one of the scales is broken, but it appears to be only cosmetic. If it becomes an issue, I am well versed enough in woodworking or metal working to whip a new one up and set some rivets. I plan on using it as my practice hone/strop razor as I wish to purchase a shave-ready one soon. Just couldn't pass this deal up!

Looks to be in pretty good shape. If the tip of that scale above the pin is the only break and if the scales can tighten up you don't even need to replace them unless the sight of it bothers you. It would me.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Nice find! I am sure she will be a great shaver for you once you get her honed up.
