Default Had to show this to someone

I'm downtown at one of the smaller local antique shops looking for shaving stuff or cigar cutters and find this.

A Gillette travel razor, never been used. Original paper protector and unwrapped blades. So a good trip.

    Then I find these.

Now they may not look like much for ya'll but they're special to me and me alone.

What they are are advertising thimbles for Russell's Radiator Shop (on the left) and Russell's Radiator and Real Estate (on the right).

I was named for this man. Paul Russell (my Mother's Father). He passed away in 1976, the year I graduated from High School. Never thought I would find these in an antique mall. Didn't think any existed outside my Mother's house.

Anyway there was a bowl of them and I bought 10. I'll be going back for the rest this weekend.

Congrats on a GREAT find! Never know what you will find in an antique shop.

Nice Find. Are you going to use it for shaving or just as a collectors piece?

I'm thinking of getting a double edge to try out. If you use it, give us an after action report.

I've already given the razor to a friend. I've got a few DE's that my wife uses since I use straights. I only paid $7.50 for it so if he pays me, great, if not, he's a friend. I'd of given it to him for the asking.

How nice it must be to find such unexpected and unusual tokens of a dear one! Gratulations!

On a personal note, thanks for bringing back some of my own memories too: on the rare occasions I see thimbles, they always awaken fond nostalgia of early childhood with my nanny who used to collect them.

Great find! My mother collects thimbles, but I doubt she has any that are as special to her as those are to you. That's awesome!
