I'm new to blade polishing and don't won't to ruin a vintage razor. I know that 0000 steel wool polishes chrome very well.

i usually start with some metal polish like Mothers Mag and aluminum polish. Some like to combine it with fine steel wool. This gives me some idea of how far i need to go (if i want to use some wet/dry paper to get the deep pits). Sometimes you can polish the black out of the pits and i doesn't need any more work.(depending on what you like)

Thanks Tintin! Will definitely give it a try. Usually had good luck on mag wheels using Mothers and 000 & 0000 steel wool.
