Thanked: 45Weekend finds!
Here is my treasure! The razor came from a local antique shop while the strops and hone I won in an auction. I've been having such great luck with this stuff and I hope it doesn't change!!! I honed the razor and tested it Sunday morning and was pleased with it's performance. I now see why Dubl Ducks have such a great reputation. The strops needed to be cleaned and conditioned but now are functional. I'm happy!

WOW!
Thats a great find! I've been after a Dubl Duck for ages, and the strops and hone are in great condition as well!
Man, I wish we had shops like that here in London. If you can find anything at all here, it usually costs about the amount of money you'd need to clear the UK's budget deficit..!

Congratulations on that Duck. But what about the Droescher hone? Looks like an Escher, complete with rubbing stone? Could it have come from the same quarry and just have the Droescher name? I would be interested to hear how it hones. I have two Eschers, one from an antique store and one from eBay, and your hone looks very similar.

Thanked: 45I wonder if the hone is really an Escher and made for S.R. Droescher? I recall reading a post somewhere stating that might be true. I do have a narrow Escher that states it was "manufactured expressly for S.R.D. New York" on the side. Maybe Droescher put their name on the later hones that were imported? No matter what, there is "escher" in "Droescher" so it can't be bad!
