The Latest SRAD Purchases
I picked up these blades (one marked Wm Elliott & Co & the other marked Black & Grinold, Bath Works, Sheffield) for less than $10 each. I called Bob Keyes at bobsrazors.com and sent the blades to him. He checked them out and didn't feel they were worth the investment of a full restoration. We decided on a "light" restoration with some simple scales for each. Basically, I wanted a couple of servicable, shave-ready razors. I got the razors back and needless to say, I was very impressed with Bob's "light" restoration work on them. I used the Wm Elliott & Co this a.m. and got a very nice shave. Also, I must thank Bob as the total turnaround time was less than a week from my mailing the razors to him until I received them back.

Damn! His light restoration work reminds me of some supposedly full restoration work I had done at one point

What a pleasure to see what an expert can do to revive old beater blades! Thanks for sharing the before and after pictures. Although it is impossible to completely remove deep pitting, Bob made those blades look 100 years younger. Also, he did some nice corrective honing to establish even bevels, on all of those blades. You got some fine keepers out of those grungy old razors, and I have no doubt they will shave as good as they look!

You got some nice looking razors now. I live about an hour's drive from Bob Keyes, I had him restore my Dubl Duck Grim Reaper and it came back brand-new he has also done some honing and rescales for me also, he does excellent work I highly recommend him.
