I've only got one Friodur, a 7/8 squarepoint with the logo inlaid in the cream color celluloid scales. I got it from Telly a couple of years ago and it was one of the sharpest razors I ever got. I asked him what he honed it with and he said it was honed by the guy in Japan he got it from and he didn't know. Fantastic shave, I like to think it must have been honed on some great Nakayama or something like that. I recently touched it up on a Shapton Pro 15k and 30k. Amazing razor. The C-Mon was good but not quite that good. Different animal though being a 5/8 and a lot lighter in weight.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yes, it is hard to compare a 7/8 to a 5/8, because they shave so differently. I really like Friodur stainless blades, I have owned two, also a nice H. Eicker PAX stainless. They are all 5/8 and feel very similar in the excellence of their shaves, like your Friodur (maybe not quite that good!). I wonder if the blade blanks that the C-MON, Friodur, and Eicker razors were made from all came from the same manufacturer, and were ground, honed and stamped by the distributors....we may never know.

Now that is the news I was waiting to hear! You have a nice looking, great shaving, corrosion resistant razor that will likely hold it's edge longer than carbon steel. Well, pardon me while I search FleaBay for one just like it..............(not gonna happen) Congratulations.

I search the bay all the time, and somehow I completely MISSED that one!

Though I couldnt have afforded it im sure. Too bad there is no way to tell when one of our own are bidding one something. Or maybe we can form a "bidders club" where we announce our intent to bid on a blade, and each member gets a turn buying what they want?
