Heljestrand eBay score. It's a score, right?
I placed a low bid on this razor and didn't think that I'd win it. I ended up winning at much lower than I thought and am now wondering if there's a particular reason for this. Did I just get lucky or does everyone know something I don't?
Here's the item number: 370347263151

Looks as though the scale may be cracked on both sides. Also a lot of scratches on the blade. Otherwise it looks good to me.

no, it's a good buy. nothing wrong with it at all. a good price - I almost bid on it myself. I think it went for that price (~$30, which is not *that* low) because the No. 31s are perhaps the most common Heljes rolling about, with a common hollow grind, only a 5/8 grind, and some scratching on the blade face. Also there are those little cracks in the scales. One good thing is that MK inlay on the scales is quite unusual - I wondered if it perhaps indicatd a late manufacture date (Heljes I think were made through the 1970s). But it's a solid bade - I paid $40 for my No. 31 a few weeks ago, and it had some rust I had to clean off. Shaves like a charm - competes with my best hollow-grind, my C-mon special. Enjoy!

I was planning on rescaling the razor, so I don't mind the scales being cracked.
I recently saw an MK31 (I think it was 31) go for 170 dollars, so I was surprised I got this one so cheap.
I didn't even know about the 31's being much more common. I'd rather have a 33, but I'm just happy to have a Heljestrand to try without having to pay a ton of money.

Well $170 for a 31 is just charging too much, and whoever bought it got ripped off. Hopefully it was at least mint condition and with somne sort of special scales (e.g. ivory). Enjoy your helje and lust us know how it shaves!
