7/8 Henckels Friodur
Snagged another 7/8 Henckels Friodur off the 'Bay.
Not too crazy about the scales so I plan to send it to Glen at Gem Star Custom for new clothes and a honing. I'm thinking something like translucent smoke or translucent blood red.Last edited by mbeem; 04-09-2010 at 04:33 AM.

They are sweet shavers, so I know you won't be disappointed there.

I saw that beautiful baby - are those the olive wood scales? If I remember right, they are.
The backbone/spine was what I remember most and what attracted me to it. I may have even bid on it. It's a very unique razor, indeed.
Best of luck with her!
Cheers!

I've got a 7/8 a couple of years ago, but not with the worked spine, and it is a great shaver with a scary sharp edge. I love that spine work on yours. GL with it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 0Hi Mbeem,
Did you get that from the eBay seller knifecorner?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370353947830&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I got one that was very similar to your but mine had some defects. The spine of the razor is heavily off centered and the tip of the spine is angled as opposed to square. There is also a grind divot between the heel and the tang. I notified the seller and he agreed that I could mail it back to him and he would replace it with one that was not defective. After I mailed it to him he told me that all of his stock was defective and that I could get a refund or he could return it to me. I have an email in to Lynn to see if he can grind and polish it to minimize the defects on mine.
Here are the photos of mine:

Thanks,
David

Hi David yeah, I got mine from there.. Mine too has a small grind mark at the heel. I debated sending it back but it doesn't really seem to be an issue other than aesthetics... It's so small I hesitate to call it a "defect". The rest of the blade is in great shape.
Mailed it to Glen yesterday for new clothes and a honing. I may shoot him an email and see if he can do something about it.

Thanked: 335Sounds like the price on the 7/8 Friodurs is going to be going in an inflationary direction.

Thanked: 0Mark,
Do you have Glen's user name or contact link. I would like to see if he can fix mine up also.
Thanks,
David
