Default Good karma has been flowing........

Hello gentleman! My R.A.D is now in overdrive. I have stopped looking on fleabay and started stopping in antique stores and old school barber shops. And Im going to tell ya its alot of fun and I have met alot of great people who are more than happy to help pass on leads it been great!!
Today I stopped at an antique store tracking down a lead I got and it was a cool old boker and a F.W Engles I picked up. But as I was looking at an really old rusty Frederick Renyolds, wondering why it was marked $68. The women said she was selling it for the old barber up the street and said I might want to go talk to him. So I did. What a nice couple of guys. They were more than happy to show me around and talk razors. But it gets better one of the barbers pulls out a MINT Cmon and a MINT Red Imp. The Red Imp he informed me he bought brand new in 1962 and still has origanal case thats perfect. I ended getting both the Red Imp and the Cmon for $75. And he insisted I get a hair cut too, and wanted to know when I was going to be back, it was kinda funny. It was a good day.

Great score and a great experience to go with it. I got a lot of great old razors from old barbers years ago. When you go back ask him if he has any hones. The old fellows in NJ called the coticule a "soap stone". You may really get lucky.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks for the input. As a matter of fact he does haves some stones, a couple badger brushes, I seen and he mentioned he may have a few razors and a couple of things at home. But theres a catch I gotta go back for a hair cut next Saturday, lol and see what he wants to part with. I may be bald by the time I finish seeing what he wants to sell. LOL

Congrats on a great score! I really do like the antique hunts for just the reasons you mentioned. I've also meet some really nice people and found many great deals. I look forward to reading about your follow up visits.

You lucky dog!! Those are some beautiful razors.

You get a haircut, great conversation AND walk out with NOS razors... that sure does beat the usual grind I do of walking into every store, searching, haggling, then rinse and repeat for every store for several blocks.

Step it up a notch, go back with the CMON or Red Imp honed and ask for a shave on top of the haircut. Maybe he'll break out some Escher hones.

Like Joed mentioned, I look forward to reading about more of your experiences going back.

Your Karma is excellent.........!!!!!!!!!! Those razors are all fantastic. The one that really stands out for me is that Boker. What a beautiful etching it has! And, I have never, absolutely never, seen a Red Imp in NOS condition before. Jimmy is right-go back for the coticules and Eschers. These barbers might even have THE Norton!

In a word - awesome! Some fantastic blades, AND, even better, some great new acquaintances to go with them. And the etching on that Boker - gorgeous. Good karma indeed Brando.
