Default Man... 2 hours too late.

My wife sent me an ad for an antique fair in town this weekend. The ad said it opened at noon, so I figured we should show up and get first dibs right at noon. We got there and it turned out it opened at 10am! Each stall I checked out I asked about straights and they'd say "oh I just sold what i had to another fellow..."

I wouldn't have been able to afford as much as this fellow bought, but I guess I missed out on three razors and then the item I'm most bummed out about is the last booth I checked had sold the same guy a seven day set! What a bumer. The only way to forget about it is to hope someone who appreciates them got em and not just someone looking to eBay them or something. Or hope they're all rusty or something lol.

Sorry to hear. I've had few of those myself. Hopefully you'll be able to go earlier for the next one.

When going to an antiques fair it is important to turn up at least two hours early. Not to be there when it opens, but to beat all those other damded collectors.

Sounds like Sumgai got there before you did. I've experienced his prowess on a number of occasions. Conversation usually goes like this:

"How are you for straight razors?"

"We had a couple really nice ones, but Sumgai came in 20 minutes ago and bought them all."

"Too many people, when listing all the perils to be found in the search for lost treasure or ancient wisdom, had forgotten to put at the top of the list 'the man who arrived just before you'." -Terry Pratchett
