Mappin's scales "Bon et utile" Good and useful... Perhaps made for the French market or just a style of the times, perhaps even re-scaled from originals. Regardless, a unique shaped blade that is very nice.

Not a humdrum razor in that entire lot, absolutely amazing finds! I too love that Mappin & Webb, they are pretty scarce. The Keen Kutter, though, I would bet hones up without any problems into an absolutely great shaver-they take and hold a very sharp and smooth edge, and two live in my permanent shaving rotation. Congratulations. There is still "gold in them thar hills" for those who are willing to take the time and search the antique stores.

Well, I got around to honing up the Mappin and introducing it to my face. Now I see what the fuss is really all about. What an awesome shaver! I'll eventually have it restored. Definitely a keeper.
