    Default The clouds are parting

The razor forecast for the past month or so has been extremely cloudy with little to no visibility. I was beginning to think that those "hipsters" had invaded my hunting grounds and were poaching all the razors. Then the sun started shining through some cracks in the clouds on Monday when I chanced onto two nice Greaves razors. Then at another auction yesterday I got lucky again finding a 15/16 Joseph Wostenholm Ebro made between 1854 and 1867. This guy was popping arm hairs right out of the box and it didn't take long to give it that buttery smooth Sheffield feel. Also from that sale (from top) an 11/16 F.A. Koch Faultless No. 20; a 5/8 Shumate Antiseptic Barber; a 5/8 Geo. A. Parker, and a 7/8 BUR Acciaio Magnetico (an Ern product). Also there was a fine old adjustable paddle strop to top off the day. As the Fifth Dimension used to sing, "Let the sun shine in!"

    Regards - Walt

Sweeet, that´s a nice gang you got. Very nice. I´ve yet to find a nice looking Wostenholm. I´m hoping the clouds will part here too soon

that's a pretty good haul you have there... I find that I go through droughts, then I get lucky for a while and I run out of cash... I think of the droughts as opportunities to save up for the next batch!

Well done Walt. Nice haul! Looks like you found the silver lining. Thanks to the popularity of our sport the prices around here have been going up and the pickings are slim. Good thing I got a jump of the crowd.

Very cool I've been fighting Sumgai again for mine. But it must be true good things come to those who wait. Or would this be the early bird? either way good on you!

Very nice haul. Those Shumates are great razors - I love American steel almost as much as I love Sheffield steel.
