Default Found an unusual Helje B K 42...

Well, I did get lucky once more. Woohooo. This is rather unusual Helje (I think), itīs marked with "B K" instead of the usual "M K". I _think_ itīs for another market than Sweden, other than the marking it looks like a Helje M K 42 to me. And get this: it was shave ready. I didnīt see that one coming. I did as I usually do with a new find, tried it on the arm and the hair just melted away without any pulling what so ever , I stropped it and tried the HHT ... popped the hair without any violin playing, just one short stroke in one direction and it broke into two pieces

Interesting Helje you've got there. I've never seen the BK marque and I wonder what the significance is. Looks like the genuine ivory scales too. You're a lucky man.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thank you! I feel lucky today (again ). Itīs ivory scales , theyīre a little thin but in good nick and the blade even centers and is snug in shaving position. Happy happy!!!

Wow! Nice! I've never even heard of the BK marking on a Helje.
    Good score!

What size is the blade? It looks lager than the average Heljestrand...

Nope itīs a 6/8, like the M K 42. Maybe a hair wider, but it fits nicely in at 12/16 inches.

    Hi Mikael!

I about had a fit when I saw the title of your post! I have that same razor, but I didn't get as lucky as you did with ivory scales. Congratulations on your good fortune!

I'd been working on the speculation that this razor was affiliated with the M(agnus). Kindal shop on 33 Avenue de l'Opéra in Paris. I wrote a letter to the Kindal website (www.kindal.fr) asking about the razor, but I haven't received a reply.

I presumed that "B." was another Kindal with another shop somewhere, but I don't know yet.

Please let me know if you find out any more, and I'll let you know if I get any results from my digging. Enjoy your razor - I'm enjoying mine
