Thanked: 1262Thanks Logistics. No longer will I hear, "Where is my Pumi 89?", "Someone find me a Pumi 89", "Surrender your Pumi 89".

Was this the one on eBay I sent to you, Robin?
If so, glad to see you got it after all! Either way, congrats on getting a Puma 89.Last edited by heirkb; 06-10-2010 at 05:44 AM.

Thanked: 1903No, it wasn't. Thing is, I had one, gave it away, then thought, 'eh, you never really tried it, but it was nice while it was there.' Since they are everything but rare, I thought it shouldn't be a problem to get another one. The only problem was that since they are Pumas, you have to pay a ghetto markup. People will pay prices for them that bear absolutely no relation to their performance. Yes, they are nice razors, but so are hundreds of vintage Solingen razors whose brand names are not hyped.
So I went hunting for one in the USD 100 price range (a price I find reasonable). There was one in really excellent condition, including tang protection and coffin, for which I was willing to fork out USD 200, but it went for USD 250 and would probably have gone higher had I kept bidding. Utter madness.
So, this one has a 50% ghetto markup, but is still reasonable. I would not, under any circumstances, have paid what that one cost if it hadn't been that particular razor, and I strongly advise no-one else does. This is a good razor, but so are many others.
Anyway, I'm glad Travis put me out of my misery. Whingeing does not become me.
Thanks!
