    Default Joseph Rodgers $20

I Just got back from Sydney yesterday, found a few razors down there but this is my favourite. Cost me 20 bucks, It'll take a bit of work, the cutting edge is a little rusty with a small frown and I dont think the etch will survive, but this one has jumped to the top of the resto pile after the two I'm working on now. The scales look to be original but are pretty badly warped so I'm thinking I'll make some new ones, maybe horn would suite nicely.

Sweet deal. But aren´t those scales in ivory - I think so, but am not sure? Wouldn´t it be possible to slowly heat them up and try and unwarp/straighten them out?

Joseph Rodgers are great shavers, and you got yours at a good price. The edge is a gamble; the steel under the rust is going to have some pitting; how deep, you won't know until you remove the rust. Hopefully it will retain it's strength and temper, and won't experience crumbling or chipping when you hone it. You will have a nice shaver in that case. The scales are celluloid, and there are help topics on straightening them. I have had so-so to moderate luck doing this myself, but you can probably at least get the blade to center. Please post some "after" pics!

    Great looking blade!
I agree with croaker. They are celluloid. The lines are the giveaway. I'd straighten them out & keep them if it were mine.
