I was at my favorite antique mall the other day and looked over the small assortment of razors in one of the cases, when I found the King. Being that it was in decent usable shape, if a little tarnished and grimy I picked it up. $40 was probably too much even with the box in ok shape, but I was there, and I don't like the idea of buying anything important from the bay.
Got it home, and since it seems like it had a reasonable bevel still I ran it over my 8k ceramic and then my "Apart" razor hone (another very good find a few months ago) but that didn't seem to get me to where I wanted to be (I'm not a very good honer) so onto the CrOx on paper and leather, and well see if it beats my Bengal.
As an aside the scales are an odd shade of brown, kind of like sanded bakelite auto-parts and have a very odd "old auto shop" smell when wet, could they be bakelite, ore something else?
