Shave Cave Hang up
Hi folks, I've been watching and waiting to find a nice shelf like this. Local salvage store had one. Thanks to an idea from Bill Ellis plus a lot of think time here is a really simple way to get the razors off the counter to dry. Just a few magnets a set into the bottom of the shelf and voila!
Plenty of beef in the rare earth magnets to hold a W&B without it dropping.
I used the cylindrical Neodymium Magnets 1/4 in x 1/4 in. I drilled the holes to ¼" diameter and just a slight bit deeper than ¼." 2part slow setting epoxy and 20 minutes made the mods. It takes about a full pound of pull to get a razor off the magnet. I aligned the magnet poles the same way on all. so I don't have razors swinging.
The idea would work for any shelving.
Have Fun!

Thanked: 267It doesn't bother you that you are magnetizing your razors? Just curious.

Magnetizing the razor? Well, some of them were magnetized when I purchased them. I use a magnetic jig to hold the blades when I renew them. No, I am not worried about that. I think that improperly storing them when wet is a greater problem. I was surprised at how well the monkeys tails stick to the magnet. I made sure that all the magnets had the same polarizing and only one pole was out on all of them. I would not want to have them swing together.
