    Default My First Straight Razor 5/8" Dovo

    Christmas came early for me this year, I begged my girlfriend for a Dovo straight razor and somehow managed to convince her to let me have it early. Here is my beautiful lady

    Nice! My first razor was a 6/8 Dovo Special, and I love it. Take good care of her, and she'll take good care of you (that applies to both the razor and the girlfriend).

    Congrats on your first!
    I've still got mine in rotation after 35 years, and it was being used for 70 years prior to that by somebody.
    You've got a chance at starting your own family heirloom, which is so cool. Treat it well, and get any advice you need here at SRP.

    The BQ may not be a fancy razor, but she's still a great shaver. You got started with a great blade, and the story is even better. I hope you enjoy the razor and everything else that comes with it.

    A Dovo 5/8 Best half-hollow was my first 'new' razor, and it is still in my rotation; an excellent shaver

    Congrats.. those are nice razors but you may want to verify she purchased it shave ready before using otherwise you will be in for a rude awakening when using it the first time.

    My first was a Dovo BQ and strop from Straight razor designs. I managed to ruin the edge in short order by very bad stropping technique. Luckily I had my second on the way
    I shaved with my Dovo #41 stainless this morning, really nice shave.
